If you weren’t in media production, what would you be doing?

Is this a trick question? I can’t imagine doing anything else. I often say, "When you quit enjoying what you do, you should find a new job." In my case that isn’t likely to happen.

List five words that describe your character:

Honest (to a fault) Direct (most people like that) Caring (for family, friends and my community) Passionate (about life and work) Pushy (in a nice way). I know that is more than five words, but I do own the company so I get more words.

You can only watch one sport for the rest of your life – which sport is it and what team are you rooting for?

Michigan State basketball

What do you like best about your job?

Every day is different. Every day is a challenge. Every day I get to think with and for clients.

What is the secret to happiness?

Spend time with those you love. Be passionate about what you do. Share your time and talents.

What’s your favorite way to relax?

OK, this question was obviously intended for someone else. But, if you insist on an answer, it is going to spin class or walking six miles.

What’s your favorite smart phone app?

Parkmobile – it lets me use a parking meter without coins. I’m not a big fan of cash.

When you were in 8th grade, what did you want to be?

A movie star. I figured I’d learn how to be a producer so I could cast myself in the next Star Wars movie. It didn’t take long to get hooked on the production side of things and I’ve been happy here ever since.

What was your favorite movie in high school?

UHF with Weird Al Yankovic. Times have changed… a little.

What is the secret to happiness?

Tiramasu

What’s your favorite way to relax?

Planning the next room to remodel on my 100-year-old house. Almost done!

If you had 15 seconds of fame, what message would you share with the world?

The left lane is for passing.

Favorite quote:

“I have not failed 700 times. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”
—THOMAS EDISON on inventing the light bulb.

Compare working at CK and CO to a TV show.

It’s like Family Feud, we all have the same goal, but we might not agree on the answer, and someone will generally say something unexpected.

If you could suddenly speak to animals, what would you talk to first and what would you ask?

I would talk to my cat and beg her to keep her mouth shut about what she’s seen.

What’s your favorite website?

You can only watch one sport for the rest of your life – which sport is it and what team are you rooting for?

As an small percentage owner of the Green Bay Packers (I own 1 Share of Packer Stock), I have a vested interest in making sure they do well.

Favorite quote:

I’m big on quotes – I have books full of them. Here are few I love:
"Life’s too short to blend in."
"Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you."
"We lose ourselves in the things we love. We find ourselves there, too."

When you were in 8th grade, what did you want to be?

A police officer. My grandpa worked for the Detroit Police Department and was one of the best officers of his time. I thought I’d be great at it. I kid you not.

What was your favorite movie in high school?

Mary Poppins. Still is.

What do you like best about your job?

Oh my – where do I begin? I love that one day I can be at my desk doing office work all day, and the next day I might find myself at a manufacturing plant in Mexico, and the day after that? Interviewing a physician. And after that? Who knows! It’s really great.

What is the best thing you’ve ever eaten?

A cannoli in Ventimiglia, Italy. It was freshly made, with candied citrus on top, just delicious.

What’s your favorite way to relax?

In the summer, you can find me relaxing on a boat at one of the lakes in West Michigan, otherwise I enjoy baking and cooking for friends and family, or reading a good book.

Probably my Macbook Pro, I have a hard time going anywhere without it.

Not really a big quote guy but if there is a favorite it would have to come from Vince Lombardi. "Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work."

What advice would the "You" of today give the "You" of 10 years ago

Dude, buy Apple stock, all of it!

Where’s Waldo

Next to the Wizard in the red robe with the blue hat and the long white beard. Everyone knows that.

What do you like best about your job

I get to play with technology all day long. Who doesn’t want to do that?

You’ve found a magic lamp! Congrats! Now what are your 3 wishes? (and wishing for more wishes doesn’t work, cheater)

A lifetime of good health for my family and friends. Then I’d wish for the genie to take my last wish and leave me alone.

What do you like best about your job?

I like the diversity of activity that videography offers. I’m never shooting the same thing, or telling the exact same story. Instead, I am always learning new things and creating new experiences.

I’d wish for more genies. Sad you didn’t think of that aren’t you?

What was the moment you realized you wanted to work in the Media/Film/Video industry?

I always did video as a hobby, but in college I took an elective media class. And after making my first video, I thought to myself… "You could have so much fun with this as a career!"
